VEGA - teefje

VEGA, een Canarische herdershond teefje, zwierf al een tijdje op straat. Patrick Fassaert, de voorzitter van Fuertedogs, heeft haar tijdens zijn bezoek begin maart 2009 van de straat gehaald en naar de Fuertedogs finca gebracht. VEGA was aanvankelijk nog wat verlegen en niet gewend aan mensen en andere honden. Nu ze een tijdje op de finca rond hobbelt gaat het allemaal stukken beter. Ze begint zich te ontspannen en heeft al wat speelkameraadjes in de roedel gevonden. Bezoekers worden niet meer nadrukkelijk gemeden maar intussen ietswat aarzelend begroet. Ze is waarschijnlijk geboren rond mei 2008.

VEGA heeft in de 3 maanden dat ze op de finca is flink wat stappen vooruit gemaakt, al heeft ze zo af en toe ook nog een klein terugvalletje. Ze is veel aanhankelijker naar bekenden en vindt het heerlijk om te worden aangehaald en geknuffeld. Wel raakt ze zo af en toe in paniek als ze te plotseling of te stevig wordt vastgepakt. Daar moet ze nog aan wennen maar daar heeft ze op de finca ook alle tijd voor. VEGA zit nu in een groepje met 4 andere honden op het achterveld. Binnen een kleinere groep voelt ze zich zichtbaar prettiger. Ze hoeft zich minder te bewijzen en kan lekker haar gang gaan. Ze heeft ook al haar vaste speelkameraadjes gevonden waar ze heerlijk mee kan dollen.

Voor VEGA zoeken we rustige mensen zonder kinderen met een oeverloos geduld om de nog onzekere VEGA in haar eigen tempo aan een leven buiten de beschermde finca te laten wennen.
Het zal niet zo makkelijk zijn om voor VEGA een geschikt gezin te vinden vandaar dat we vooral op zoek zijn naar mensen die VEGA op afstand zouden willen helpen.

Patrick Fassaert, the chairman of the Fuertedogs Foundation, brought her to the finca during his visit in March 2009. At first, Vega was a little shy and not used to people or other dogs. She has been staying at the finca for a while and is doing much better. She has started to relax, found some playmates and doesn’t avoid visitors anymore - they are carefully greeted by Vega. She is so much more affectionate towards people she knows and loves to be stroked and hugged. However, sometimes she still panics when you hug her unexpectedly or hold her too tight. She has to get used to this and at the finca there’s plenty of time for this. Vega is staying in the back field at the finca with 4 other dogs and you can see she’s so much happier in a small group.
